If you’re not familiar with the concept of a smoothie, no worries, this recipe is a bit like a healthy banana peanut butter milkshake!

Ingredients for the banana peanut butter smoothie:

Banana Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Smoothie Ingredients:

Milk

Milk is base of this smoothie; it’s what allows all the ingredients to blend together and be drinkable. If you want a vegan recipe, choose plant-based milk. There are many varieties available, such as coconut, soy, or almond milk… Personally, I use almond milk, and it’s perfect!

Without milk, you’ll get a nice cream! And it’s also delicious. You’ll just need a good blender to mix the frozen banana.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal has a strong satiating effect and is often recommended in diets. But personally, I find it quite dry and have difficulty consuming it with yogurt, etc. So I put it in my super banana peanut butter oatmeal smoothie… And I can barely feel it!

Frozen Banana

Bananas are rich in magnesium and are particularly recommended for women. Personally, I’ve always loved this fruit. Since I make smoothies at all hours of the day and night, I always have a Tupperware container with sliced and frozen bananas. I take a handful for my smoothie, and that’s it!

Banana and Peanut Butter Smoothie

Peanut Butter

I often use peanut butter in my recipes because it’s full of good fats. I choose it pure, of course, 100% peanut butter. There are crunchy versions with small pieces of peanuts and smooth versions. You can use either for this recipe.

Recommendations for the banana peanut butter smoothie:

Do you want a protein-packed banana peanut butter smoothie for bodybuilding?

Oatmeal Smoothie for Bodybuilding. If you take protein powder for bodybuilding, you can add it to your smoothie. If you like superfoods, you can choose maca powder, which goes well with peanut butter. The good thing about this smoothie is that peanut butter is quite strong and covers the taste of the added protein.

Oatmeal Smoothie for Sports

Another trick, if you want to cover the taste of the protein, is to add a date or date syrup, which will also bring a little sweet taste perfect for your workout.

If you need your energy boost for sports, date syrup is easy to consume and will be perfect for your peanut butter shake.

Frozen Banana Smoothie without sugar…

If you need more sweetness (even though the banana is sweet enough), you can add one or two Medjool dates (without the pit) or even date syrup! It’s a delight.

Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • Frozen bananas
  • Pure peanut butter (100% peanut butter)
  • Milk (can use plant-based milk for a vegan version)
  • Oatmeal
  • Optional: Protein powder or maca powder for added protein boost
  • Optional: Dates or date syrup for extra sweetness

Instructions

    1. The night before - or few hours - slice the bananas and put them in the fridge in a zip bag or a Tupperware container.
    2. If you didn't have time to freeze the bananas the night before or just discovered this recipe, it's okay. You can put your bananas in the freezer for 15 minutes. They will cool down a bit, giving you the desired creamy texture.
    3. If you're in a hurry, you can add ice cubes for a refreshing smoothie (it's always better, especially in the summer). But for that, it's best to have a high-quality blender like a Vitamix or similar!
    4. When it's time to make your smoothie, take the bananas out of the freezer and put them in the blender.
    5. Add the dates or date syrup, oatmeal, peanut butter, and milk.
    6. Blend everything together and drink quickly.

Notes

Since the bananas are frozen, it's better to drink your smoothie fairly quickly.

If you don't have frozen bananas and you really, really want to taste this smoothie (which I completely understand), you can use a non-frozen banana.

I recommend using a peanut butter without added sugar, as the banana will already provide natural sweetness.

You can play around with this smoothie and add your personal touch.

For example, you can add a superfood (maca, dates...) or your plant-based protein (if you're into bodybuilding). If you're a coffee lover, you can also add a bit of your (cold) coffee to the smoothie.

Get ready for a powerful wake-up!
