Today, I’m sharing the recipe for a tuna poke bowl marinade. The tuna poke bowl is a healthy dish that originated in Hawaii. If you’re a fan of raw tuna, you’ll love this fresh and trendy recipe.
What’s great about this dish is that you can customize the toppings to your liking: rice (the base), tuna (of course), avocado, cucumber, mango, radish, lettuce… The more colorful, the more appealing!
To make this recipe, I marinated the tuna in a sauce made from soy sauce and rice vinegar.
As with all marinades, the longer you let it marinate, the better. After an hour, the tuna absorbs the flavors of the soy sauce, and you can really taste it.
For a healthier version, you can choose brown rice for your poke bowl. It’s more digestible. You can also accompany it with a green salad.
Once again, the key is to have fun and enjoy both the visual and taste!

Key Ingredients for Marinated Tuna Poke Bowl (or Bol Poke)
Raw tuna
When it comes to raw tuna, it’s essential to choose ultra-fresh and high-quality tuna. Personally, I get it from the fishmonger and ask them to prepare tuna cubes for me.
The Toppings
What’s fun about poke bowl recipes is that you can easily play around with the ingredients: avocado, cucumber, carrots, edamame, or even a bit of mango!
I also like to finish with a crunchy element by adding sesame seeds.
Rice for Poke Bowl:
You can prepare regular rice with water, or you can go the extra mile and prepare authentic sushi rice. It takes a bit more time and effort, but it will give you the true poke bowl experience. You can find the rice cooking steps here. I’ve previously detailed the cooking steps for my salmon poke bowl recipe, which differs slightly from the tuna version.
Tuna Poke Bowl Marinade:
The marinade is crucial for raw tuna poke. I recommend preparing it a few hours before enjoying your poke bowl and immersing the diced tuna in it. This way, you’ll get well-marinated and flavorful tuna that has had time to absorb the marinade’s flavors.

Notes
I found that Thai rice worked well with the tuna poke bowl, but you can, of course, choose another type of rice. My little tip is to add a tablespoon of rice vinegar and another of sesame oil... it enhances the flavor!
